Corin's Birthday

As a chronicle of my life in San Francisco, this blog has necessarily been filled with stories about the two roommates I moved here to live with: Diego and St. Frances.

But before I moved to SF, I had a roommate in DC for five years who is just as close of a friend: Corin. And, inasmuch as he's a sci-fi nerd just like me, Corin is a friend with some passions much closer to my heart than Diego or St. F have, what with hockey and crafting.

So I miss him a lot.

Wednesday was Corin's Birthday and we iMessaged for almost an hour. We talked about his upcoming job interviews (he's set to finish his PhD this year), my progress on this blog, a potential visit to stay with him in NYC, and of course Star Trek.

He also texted me what he had planned for his birthday weekend. Because his girlfriend, Zadie, was going to be out of town, she had taken him out the weekend before.

"This is going to be a solo day. Going to a diner for breakfast, natural history museum, high line, massage in the afternoon, then a movie and pizza."

"Fool! You really going to be able to do all that?"

"Oh shit... I have a presentation to make in the morning. Okay, will probably do the museum Sunday then."

"Haha. Wish I was there so I could do even half those things with you."
