Exploring the Excelsior

A few weeks ago I posted about exploring the Sunset. Well, it my bid to dominate San Francisco geographically, St. Frances and I went exploring in the Excelsior last Sunday.

I'd got a 2-for-1 Groupon for "Excelsior Urban Hikes." Turns out this woman Christina leads you on your pick of three different hikes, all starting at the Excelsior bridge, with her pit bull Snap.

It was a perfect SF day: sunny and windy, and just like SF, we found ourselves on top of a hill pretty fast. Our group of 8 hikers chose to go to John McLaren park, where we met other dogs, senile & happy old men sitting on park benches, families flying kites, and couples out for a stroll. Snap jumped in a pond and went for a swim.

Afterwards, St. Frances insisted we get Peruvian food (saltados at Mi Lindo Peru) and Mitchell's Ice Cream. I came home with an upset tummy, but it was a nearly perfect SF afternoon.
