Happy Hour With the Finance Crowd: Revisited
Last night was Laina's last day at her job, so I met up with her and her coworkers for a farewell happy hour at Americano.
Americano is where the entire downtown crowd heads after work on a sunny day. I chowed through a plate or two of peach, burrata and purple basil bruschetta and downed a few Peroni's.
I also did some networking and chatted about relay running, how to start a nonprofit, and blue laws. Mostly, I learned what kind of music each of Laina's coworkers listen to while they're number-crunching on Excel.
"This must be incredibly boring for you," one coworker said. "All this work talk."
"Oh no," I assured her. "You have to understand: I hear about all these office frustrations, scheduling meetings, people listening to music too loud, and I think about my job: sitting around the house in my pajamas with the Olympics on in the background."
